At the end of last month it was reported that there was noticeable increase in the total number of Self Managed Super Funds. The ATOs latest statistics have increased by 4%. On 30 September the total number of SMSF members was 1,130,721. Total net Australian and overseas assets increased 7.75 per cent from $624.3 billion up to $672.7 billion. The total (estimated) value of SMSF assets was $701.6 billion at the end of September. These statistics also indicated that listed shares continue to account for 29%/the largest share of assets.
